A lantern-lit town to call home

Lanternvale is a walled pixel-art town full of life. Nearly two hundred houses and shops line its streets, townsfolk stroll between the market square, the chapel and the green, and every villager keeps their own hours. Walk into the café for a latte, grab a cinnamon bun at the bakery, pick up apples in the market hall or a new sword from Bruna at the forge. When the lamps come on at night, the whole valley glows.

Adventure beyond the gates

Step through any of the four town gates and the wild meadows, woods and ponds begin. Hunt slimes, wisps and boars for experience and gems, and keep an eye on the sky: every so often an epic boss rampages near town, and everyone who helps bring down the Elder Boar, the Slime King or the Storm Wisp shares the spoils. When the valley grows restless, the Demon Lord himself takes over, taxes the town and waits at the arena for heroes to rally against him.

Make it yours

Design your hero with the wardrobe, then equip swords, spears, shields, helmets and armour as you level up. Join festivals, gem rushes and fishing contests in the town square. Players with an account can own a plot of land, build a small house or a cottage, furnish it and choose who may visit. Quick travel takes you from anywhere back to the town center or to your own lot.

How to play

1. Pick a name and press Play. No download and no sign-up needed.
2. Walk with W, A, S and D. Press E to talk to villagers and Space to swing your weapon.
3. Open your bag with I, your errands with Q and quick travel with T.
4. Create an account whenever you like to keep your character on any device and to own land.

Questions

Is Lanternvale free to play?

Yes. You can play everything in the valley for free. The only purchases are optional: a plot of land to build your own home on, and a supporter pass.

Do I need to download anything?

No. Lanternvale runs in your web browser. Open lanternvale.online, pick a name and you are in the town square a few seconds later.

Do I need an account?

No. You can play straight away as a guest with just a name. Create an account with your email and a password when you want to keep your character on any device or own land.

Can I play with friends?

Yes. Everyone shares one world: you meet other players in the streets, fight epic bosses together, and invite friends into your house.

Can I play on my phone?

Lanternvale is made for a computer with a keyboard: you walk with WASD and use a few keys to talk, swing and travel. Phones and tablets are not supported yet.
