Terms of Service

These terms apply when you play Lanternvale at lanternvale.online or buy anything in it. Please read them; by playing you agree to them.

1. Who we are

Lanternvale is made and run by TinyTools, based in the Czech Republic ("we", "us"). You can reach us at [email protected].

2. The game

Lanternvale is a free online game that runs in your web browser. You can play as a guest with just a name, or create an account with your email address and a password to keep your character on any device and to own land.

The game is a living world. We add, change and sometimes remove features, items, places and rules, run events, and rebalance things to keep the game fair and fun. The game may occasionally be unavailable, for example for maintenance or because of problems outside our control.

3. Your account

• You must be at least 15 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission to buy anything.
• Give a real email address you can receive mail at, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
• An account is for one person. Please do not sell, share or transfer accounts.

4. Purchases

Playing is free. There are two optional purchases:

• Land lots. A one-off payment that lets your account own a plot of land in the town, where you can build and furnish a house and choose who may visit. The lot stays yours for as long as the game runs and your account is in good standing.
• Supporter pass. A one-off payment of $2.99 for 30 days of supporter perks, including the narrated slideshow of your hero's adventures. It does not renew automatically; buying another adds 30 more days.

Prices are shown before you pay and include any sales tax or VAT that applies.

Paddle processes your payment; we never see your card details. Your purchase is delivered to your account as soon as the payment completes. Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.

Land, houses, the supporter pass and everything else in the game are a licence to use them inside Lanternvale. They are not real property and have no cash value, and you may not sell or trade them for real money outside the game. Because the game keeps developing, how land and houses look, the rules around them and their surroundings may change.

5. Playing fair

Lanternvale is a cozy place shared with other people. You agree not to:

• cheat, use bots or automation, or exploit bugs (please tell us about them instead);
• harass, threaten or impersonate others, or use offensive character names or lot titles;
• attack, overload or try to get unauthorised access to the game or its servers;
• sell or buy accounts, items or in-game tokens for real money.

If you break these rules we may warn you, rename your character or lot, or suspend or close your account. We will act in proportion to what happened, and you can always write to us if you think we got it wrong.

6. Our content and yours

The game, its art, music, text and code belong to TinyTools or the people who licensed them to us. We give you a personal, non-commercial right to play it. Names and lot titles you choose are shown to other players; you let us display them in the game, and we may remove ones that break these terms.

7. Ending

You can stop playing at any time and ask us to delete your account by writing to us. If we ever close Lanternvale, we will announce it in the game and on this site at least 30 days before, and stop selling purchases before then.

8. Liability

We work hard to keep the game running well, but we provide it as it is, without promising it will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away your rights as a consumer.

9. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic. If you are a consumer living in the European Union, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts there. If we cannot sort out a problem together, consumers can also turn to the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (Česká obchodní inspekce, coi.cz) for out-of-court dispute resolution.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the game changes. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we will announce important changes in the game before they apply.
